Vareniclina / Varenicline
La agencia europea EMEA ha publicado el pasado 14 de diciembre la decision de su comite CHMP de advertir en los medicamentos con vareniclina (Champix, para deshabituar del tabaquismo) que se informe a los medicos de que los usuarios de este tratamiento pueden presentar depresion, ideas suicidas o intentos de suicidio.

- CHAMPIX está indicado en adultos para dejar de fumar.

N07BA03 - Vareniclina, se une con una afinidad y selectividad alta a los receptores neuronales para acetilcolina de
tipo nicotínico 42, donde actúa como un agonista parcial - un compuesto que tiene tanto actividad
agonista, con menor eficacia intrínseca que la nicotina, y actividad antagonista en presencia de
nicotina.

FRASE RESUMEN: “Considerar la utilización de vareniclina para la deshabituación tabáquica en la población fumadora sin comorbilidad añadida por su ligera superioridad en eficacia, valorando el perfil de efectos adversos y las preferencias del paciente”.
